Art

The Art Class is set up to help the student learn the basic parts of art. The main components of art are the following: (1) Studio Art, (2) Art History, (3) Art Culture, and (4) Art Critique. This class will span a full year and fulfills the fine arts requirement for high school graduation. One year of art also fulfills the "F" requirement for college. 

 

ASB

 

AVID

Stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college. The program places special emphasis on growing writing, critical thinking, teamwork, organization and reading skills.

 

Band (Beginning)

Students are taught basic musicianship that encompasses reading notation, musical symbols, dynamics, intonation, blending, and performance practices.  Students are taught how to perform on their selected instruments that include; Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet, Baritone Horn, Trombone, Tuba, and Percussion. Students will demonstrate their skills on basic performances that culminate to the required performances and include the Winter Concert (December)  and the Spring Concert (May).   No experience necessary.

 

Band (Advanced)

Students continue to develop their musical skills on their selected instrument to gain fluency, confidence, solo work, and overall musicianship.  This course will develop the instrumentalist to perform at a higher level with the individual awareness of blend and balance in an ensemble setting.

 

Choir

Students are taught basic musicianship which encompasses notation, dynamics, rhythm, articulation, and tone production.  Along with the musicality, students are taught proper breath support vital to tone production and clarity.  Music selected reflects a wide variety and incorporates genres that include, Pop, Rock, Classical, Opera, and Musical Theater.  No experience necessary. 

 

ELD

The purpose of this course is to provide 9th grade students with high quality English Language Development (ELD) instruction in order for them to develop proficiency in English as rapidly and effectively as possible.

 

Orchestra (Beginning)

Students are taught basic musicianship that encompasses reading notation, musical symbols, dynamics, intonation, blending, and performance practices.  Students are taught how to perform on their selected instruments that include; Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass.  Students will demonstrate their skills on basic performances that culminate to the required performances and include the Winter Concert (December)  and the Spring Concert (May).   No experience necessary.

Spanish 1 (Spanish Speakers)

The purpose of this course is to enable students who are already Spanish speakers to develop, maintain, and enhance proficiency in the target language by reinforcing and acquiring skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The course will also include cultural values of the Spanish speaking world.

 

Spanish 1

This introductory course is designed for students with little or no previous study of Spanish. This course teaches basic language patterns and vocabulary, as well as culture. Focus is on all four language skills, listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

 

Theater Arts

Theatre Arts is a class that explores your creative side! 

You will participate in fun Theatre games, act, draw, sing, dance, and more. You also learn about Theatre history.
