good morning pirate families today is Friday September 30th 2022 and Welcome to our Title 1 annual parent meeting on Damen Drago's and I am the principal and so happy to share some information with you if you're just joining us now I've got everybody on you and we're going to go through and presents material if you have questions I can take some questions at the end if not in the very end the presentation there are also some communication methods so you can give us a call you can send us an email you can reach out and any of those ways through schoology and get some information to ask a question and get some answers I'm going to move on and start with our presentation I was going to review the title one process the program how the title 1 funds are used to talk a little bit about the parent compact this is a district develops instrument that allows parents to be part of the process the parent family engagement policy both from the district to the school level talked about parents rights and how to support your child what is Title 1 subtitle one is from the 90 69 legislation by initially called chapter one and it's a federally developed program that provides financial assistance for our nation's schools the goal title one is a higher quality education for every child in particular looking level the playing field so particular school or district has a greater need there can be additional Title 1 funds provided the program serves millions of children's in elementary and in secondary school including Paramount High School West Campus Central unified are Title 1 schools how tied one works the federal government provides funds to States based on a census and poverty did it each year for Title One the CD you sent the money to the local school tricks and it goes through that County Department of that and the school district's identify schools based on the free reduced lunch and that's for Title One money comes from each school has a School site Council composed of parents teachers and others staff at work as a school and of course the principal we also have students on our committee because it's a high school school site Council Services of school to Dysart committee we conduct A needs assessment looking at what we have and what we need to benefit our students we develop goals and our most of our goals go over multiple years because as we're moving closer and closer to what our ideal is we continue to focus in on that the goals programs in budget with Title 1 funds are all part of the singles plant single plan for student achievement while we called the zips up and they spill site Council approves the steps that each year and we're in the process of completing our ships are based on the from last year's School site Council and will present that revised episode to our incoming School site Council and get their input and approval and then it goes to our school board our campus in school as for the 22 23 school year are essentially the same we are always looking to get 100% success for all of our students so we're increasing our students achievement in English language arts and Mathematics by at least 10% on the casket and just assessment there should be an astronaut here because we don't actually do the cast in 10th Grade 9th grade to 10th grade and 11th grade assessment but we prepare our students for Success next year we're looking for an increase in re does ignition of reclassified fluent English profession are are fat by 5% on the English language proficiency assessment for California where we called the elpac as well as other District metrics in our SSI on the elpac we've already increased by at least 4% from 3 to 4 and we're looking to make that at least double pop possibly even triple we are always looking to increase our a through G requirement Readiness by 5% our goalie and is 100% of our students were a through G ready and decrease chronic absenteeism by 3% and suspension rate by 1% during proving parent involvement we have been coming up in this next school year and Improvement in a an expansion of our multiple tiers of Courts what we call mcss that goes with that process Title 1 funds on our campus provide these activities to support our goals so we have academic coaches these are certificated staff members who work outside of the classroom for students in the classroom and to support our teachers in the classroom we have a couple extra classified staff one in our counseling office in particular who helps provide liaison with parents support our counselors and create a more accessible environment for our families to come in we have classified instructional AIDS in our classrooms to support students we have one of our noon Duty aide positions is funded that way as well so it's an additional dog out interacting with kids at lunch time and Richmond field trips so as we do opportunities and access resources are available these funds can help cover those costs how to unlock requires all Title 1 schools and families were together so we number of different things that we do to accomplish that we have the School parent engagement policy that comes from both the district as well as the site the parents will Compact and the school plan for student achievement the steps that we've mentioned are the parent compact facts about how we have a shared responsibility that at we have school follow what we call and look apprentice and place of parents that we are partners with parents and our primary subject our students our goal is to help our students both in the chemically but also social emotional did to be successful in life and all areas we share all our responsibilities with parents and we review this parent compact with parents at a number of our meetings each fall the parents are familiar the West Campus Parent compact was part of the digital documentation that parents signed when they went through the process of enrolling their students it's also available as a downloadable you can see there's a link at the bottom of the slide so it look set the the four areas of focus for our district and we were we are linking the goals for students achievement we focus on our student learning skills they talks about how we connect our teachers and their primary job to our students whose job is to be successful we share strategies with parents we don't expect them to be educational experts there parental experts and we work together always for the success of our students here's worth it with a compact looks like if you get to it as it is attractive and so again that's what that link is on the bottom of the page switch back to my presentation is what happens when you push too many buttons at the same time my slideshow all right the district policy is the same and the in the goal is to have parents involved with all of their children ever level up there National score high school it's reviewed annually and we get input from the title one serving it comes in the spring we every time we have a parent activity we have an exit scanning documents if you were at our back to school night last night you saw those cure cuz all a and it gives parents an opportunity to give us more than just a signature that they were here at it and it and it gives them an opportunity for feedback and input and then we also have the district English language advisory committee of the D lack is another inch I meant another group that we can get feedback from parents about how we could do things better to support the needs of families and the needs of our students we have the district policy which is available through this like right here and it is very similar to the site one but it's much more extensive and it goes through all the district components because it affects students at all the way from t k all the way through 12th grade the goal for engagement is to get parents involved in a meaningful way developing and implementing support systems for them to get a parent input on issues in the school and the school Community we work together to write these policies and then we annual title a meeting to go over the specifics the nuances that go with a title loan requirements more more on that there and explains these things so you can pause this if you want to look through as you're going through the present a we are recording this one is presentation and it will be available on our website report for at least a few weeks so that if you are unavailable to attend you can still pick it up later on and it once again. the URL to get to our parents come and get your policy that I had clicked on earlier the parent right under title one they have a right to be involved but also a requirement to be involved and to be a participant both in their students work but also I'm at meetings on campus we provide information on student achievement through the S back and other state tests and we don't do any tests Federal tests cure except for the elpac which is a state test what does reference students English language levels there will you focus on student Readiness at for reading language arts math social science and science Are For Worse and you can get information from your about your student's teacher we have highly qualified staff and we do information and updates based on the specifics of those teachers and their credentials so we used a pro called Maps which was a Voluntary Assessment that had a pre assessment in major assessment and a year and more call post-assessment to look at our Student Success in particular we started this two years ago while we were off learning and then we carry it again last year and what we did see was our starting points were kind of where we expect them to be low because of the loss of learning that students were away from school are midterm showed no significant growth and are some of those at the end show that we had attained at least the goals we were looking for in some areas we exceeded those pulse our next assessment for our kids are in 10th grade in the Common Core science test that's what they're taking at components of earth science which is in an integrated into our biology or chemistry a lot of biology and a lot of chemistry so that's why it lines up very well for a 10th grade assessment your engagement is the key it's best for your child so you are your child's first teacher and they are your children even as they become adults you have the ability to influence your child's education more than any particular teacher you are you're the reason why they're here and you're there the key component in their success we encourage you to volunteer and support your child through classroom activities or committee memberships at the high school level it is much more about supporting your child in the allowing them to develop it's less about the classroom volunteering and participation but there are opportunities for that always feel free to share your child's interests and abilities with their teachers and helps them to get to know your child more quickly and then a better understanding of their unique and visual contributions the campus and always make sure you're keeping up with your child's progress reports I'm so many ways there's a laundry list here things you can do to share success and support success with your children looking at encouraging the right attitude and your perception of Love of learning reading with your child talking about the material that you're reading or that they're reading limiting their time in a passive environment was watching TV in access the public library which is also available digitally asking your child about their day and actually finding out some specific questions and answers about what they learned look at their homework or at the high school level housing explained Walmart to you success praise encouragement are all critical factors of the scary things you can do to get to know the school better please attend conferences school events trainings you can volunteer at the school with the school or with organizations that are part of the school at the high school level there are numerous opportunities to support school activities Athletics bands cheerleading and if you have a chance to be participating there you watch your child and see their growth in their success but courage you and generally be informed and stay engaged if you got feedback and anything else that you like to share or questions you'd like to have answered
