A-G Requirements

A. History/Social Science

     2 years required

●   1 year of World History

                  and

●   1 year of US History

B. English

     4 years required

●   4 years of College-preparatory English composition and literature.

C.  Mathematics -

     3 years required

     4 years recommended

●   3 years of College Preparatory Math including: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or higher mathematics

D. Laboratory Science

    2 years required

    3 years recommended

       ●          UCs require two years of science within the disciplines of  Biology, Chemistry, or Physics

       ●          CSUs require one year of a Biological Science and one year of a Physical Science

E. Language Other than English

    2 years required

    3 years recommended

●   Two years of the same language

F. Visual and Performing Arts

    1 year required

●   1 year required for a visual and performing arts

G. College-Preparatory Elective

      1 year required

●   1 year/ 2 semester of elective coursework for any area on approved A-G course list.

●   Students can use an A-F class they have already taken which exceeds the minimum requirement for that particular area.

●   For example, a 4th year of math can be counted as a college prep elective if no other class has fulfilled this requirement.
